Located at the Pasco Research Station, the Fisheries Engineering Program provides logistical support to all Fish Ecology Division programs conducting research in the Columbia River and Puget Sound Basins. This support includes the design, fabrication, and installation of equipment required to conduct a wide range of fish passage, migration, and habitat research studies at Columbia and Snake River hydropower facilities and in the Columbia River and Puget Sound estuaries. Fabrication shop facilities include metal working, cutting, and welding equipment necessary to construct a variety of research tools including hydrophone anchor systems, work barges, fish ladder modifications, and flumes for testing fish behavior.
