The Acoustics Team is charged with providing acoustic assessments of commercially and ecologically valuable fisheries off the West Coast, including the U.S. portion of an established joint United States-Canadian Pacific hake survey program. These regular assessments are key for estimating fish stock size and act as the foundation for advising harvest levels. Additional team research focuses on development and application of fishery acoustic techniques to evaluate and to improve fish stock assessment. |
