Background
Tom has been with the Center since 2001. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas, where he studied hybridization in seabirds along the Pacific coast.
Current Research
Tom conducts research on avian predation on juvenile salmonids in the mid-Columbia River, as well as on the influence of marine-derived nutrients from spawned out salmonid carcasses on upper trophic levels birds and mammals in the Salmon River basin in Idaho. Tom also serves on a Risk Assessment Team that is conducting analyses to update the status of currently listed evolutionarily significant units (ESUs) of Pacific salmonids.
