Background
Before joining the FRAM division, Chris Harvey studied aquatic community structure and how those communities respond to perturbations such as environmental variability, fishing, species introductions and management actions in Alaska, the Great Lakes, the Baltic Sea and the Columbia River. He received a B.S. in biology from Wake Forest University, an M.S. in fisheries from the University of Washington and a Ph.D. in limnology and marine science from the University of Wisconsin.

Current Research
Chris is now using empirical tools, such as stable isotope analysis, and modeling tools, such as bioenergetics and food web models, to study the dynamics of groundfish communities on the West Coast. His specific research interests include examining ecological responses of groundfish to climate variability, developing bioenergetic models for rockfish, determining the importance of estuarine habitat in different life history stages of several groundfish species and examining the effects of fishing on West Coast shelf communities.
