Background
Dr. Patricia Burke joined NOAA Fisheries in 2008 as the program manager for FRAM's Groundfish Monitoring Program. Prior to that, Dr. Burke headed the Marine Resources Program with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, which oversees and manages Oregon's marine fish and wildlife resources. Dr. Burke acted as ODFW's representative on the Oregon Ocean Policy Advisory Council in the Governor's Marine Cabinet and served as Oregon's representative on the Pacific Fishery Management Council.
Dr. Burke has also directed other natural resources program including serving as the environmental program director of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Indians, legislative director of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and water quality division director for the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
Dr. Burke received her Ph.D. and M.S. in marine fishery genetics at the University of New Hampshire.
