Background
Brian Burke has worked in fisheries since 1993. He joined the NWFSC in early 2002. His interests lie primarily in ecological modeling--from small-scale processes such as energetics and physiology of individuals to larger-scale processes such as animal movement, habitat quality and population fluctuations. He has worked in both freshwater (Ohio reservoirs, Lake Erie) and estuarine (North Carolina) environments. He has also worked part time as a computer programmer. Brian received a B.S. in natural resources management from Ohio State University and an M.S. in zoology from North Carolina State University.
Current Research
As co-principal investigator, Brian is currently studying the duration and efficiency of dam passage of Pacific salmon and lamprey in the Columbia River system. In addition to data management and analysis, he is also working on a project that assesses new methods of analyzing migrational behavior data.
