TRT Population Boundaries, spatial data
| Populations | Source |
|---|---|

| Oregon Coast TRT Populations (OC) | NWFSC |
| Puget Sound TRT Populations (PS) | NWFSC |
| Willamette Lower Columbia TRT Populations (WLC) | NWFSC |
Data from the four TRTs were merged to create a seamless spatial data set of ESU population boundaries for the Willamette-Lower Columbia, Interior Columbia, Puget Sound, and the Oregon Coast. Data attributes were generalized for this effort, but the majority of the details put forth by the TRTs are maintained in this spatial data set. These are the salmonid population delineations identified and used by the Technical Recovery Teams, and they represent the geographic extent of individually-listed ESU salmonid populations in the Pacific Northwest, typically delineated by the extent of their spawning areas. Determination of spawning extent is dependent on the quality and scale of historic and current surveys and studies; quality and availability of this may vary by TRT region and may be more fully described in the domain-specific metadata narrative citations. Identifying independent populations is a key component of identifying current and future extinction risk, as well as patterns of diversity within and between ESUs.
These data may differ substantially from other depictions/data of salmonid populations produced by other entities (e.g., other Federal, tribal, state, and local agencies). These data are intended to be used by federal, tribal, state, and local recovery planners, other co-managers, NGOs and the general public for any activities related to anadromous salmonid recovery and conservation. These data are intended to assist users, but do not constitute the legal description of salmon and steelhead populations listed under the ESA. Users in need of a legal description should instead consult the agency. Every effort has been made to ensure that these data are as accurate as possible. For more information on salmon populations, please see the Northwest Regional Office background.
These data are intended to assist users, but do not constitute the legal description of salmon and steelhead populations listed under the ESA. Users in need of a legal description should instead consult agency. These data were generated by NOAA and reflect population delineations identified by Technical Recovery Teams. These data may differ substantially from other depictions/data of salmonid populations produced by other entities (e.g., other Federal, tribal, state, and local agencies). Every effort has been made to ensure that these data are as accurate as possible.
These data are intended to be used by federal, tribal, state, and local recovery planners in evaluating the location, extent, and ESA status of salmon and steelhead populations. Data would be helpful in prioritizing specific recovery actions such as barrier removal, and the influence of limiting factors. Accessibility information included with the 6th field hydrologic unit version of these data can be an important factor in deciding areas where habitat restoration will have the maximum benefit.

1 Detailed population versions includes detailed information on accessibility, status, and sixth field hydrologic unit for multiple polygons within the population boundary (boundaries may be the size of a 4th field watershed). This is the appropriate version to use if boundaries are used in conjunction with higher resolution streams or land use data sets, or if the user is interested in attributes only available in this version.
2General population versions do not include 6th field information, but includes basic names and groups associated with the population. This version is the most suitable for making simple boundary maps of populations. Attributes included in this general version is also included in the detailed version. The general version is currently not available for download, but can be requested.
