The Employee of the Month Award honors an outstanding employee for demonstrated and sustained effort in advancing NOAA's mission. Recipients receive a congratulatory letter and certificate from the NOAA Administrator and are featured in several NOAA media outlets.

July 2016 Shallin Busch
For leading the development of a comprehensive Ocean Acidification Implementation Plan that touches 13 federal agencies, and for creating an interagency budget estimate, a pioneering effort recognized by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. Her contributions have bolstered NOAA's reputation as an effective leader of ocean issues.

For leading the first-ever compilation and evaluation of fishery economics before and after the implementation of the West Coast Groundfish Individual Fishing Quota (IFQ) system.
