Our program coordinates the NWFSC's small boats and provides vessel-related services to our science programs, including small boat safety and operations support. We also promote ongoing coordination of Newport facilities issues and provide additional support to the Hammond, OR facility.
The boat safety team provides support as the NWFSC Line Office Safety Boating Officer (LOSBO) who provides reports for vessels and operators based at our facilities to the appropriate manager and to the Safety and Environmental Office (SECO).
The vessel operations team provides support for small vessels. The Vessel Operations Coordinator (VOC) for small boats at NWFSC's headquarters in Seattle oversees all small boat operations. The VOC is also directly involved with boat maintenance/upkeep, operator qualifications, and day-to-day operations.
We provide administrative support for our Newport, OR facillty, including travel, time & attendance, mail, shipping, meeting room scheduling, and property management. We provide IT support for helpdesk and will support IT needs aboard ships and charter vessels of NWFSC research programs, especially those originating from Newport. With the relocation of the NOAA Marine Center Pacific to Newport, we will assist in providing IT support to NOAA ship and charter cruises.
