Jon Lee received his BA in Integrative Biology from UC Berkeley in 1999, and his PhD in Neurobiology & Behavior from Cornell in 2006. He began an NRC postdoc at NWFSC in 2006 and became a NOAA employee in 2008. His previos studies focused on aggressive behavior, reproductive behavior and physiology, behavioral syndromes, habitat selection, hatchery effects on behavior, and stock enhancement. His research subjects included cichlids, midshipman fish, rockfish, steelhead, and lingcod.
As a member of the Behavioral Ecology Team, Jon collaborates with the Marine Fish Group to use behavioral approaches to help develop the sablefish aquaculture industry. His duties include identification of research questions, experimental design and execution, data analysis, and presentation of results. Current projects focus on effects of light and temperature on larval sablefish behavior and development.
