Monster Seminar JAM - Complex Habitat Questions - Little or No Data, What are We Doing in BC? Suggestions Welcome!
James Boutillier, Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Science, Pacific Biological Station
This talk will highlight how DFO Science in the Marine Ecosystem and Aquaculture Division on the Pacific Coast of Canada is changing to address questions that resource managers are facing when trying to account for ecosystem impacts of anthropogenic activities.
Within this context, I will touch on the Legislative and Policy context for delivery Ecosystem Based Management in Canada; detail the suite of questions that we are facing from our Oceans, Aquaculture, Fisheries and Habitat managers; outline some of directions science is taking; discuss some the science responses to address these questions; and hopefully stimulate discussions on potential areas of overlap and potential collaboration with NWFSC.
