Finfish and Shellfish Aquaculture

The sustainable aquaculture of fish and shellfish promotes blue-green jobs, decreases pressure on the wild fishery, and produces a healthy food product for the public. In addition, artificial propagation can be used for wild restoration. Scientists at the Manchester Research Station are engaged in studies to develop and optimize technologies for the artificial production of marine fish and shellfish including the development of genetically defined broodstocks, methods to control reproduction, optimizing larval rearing, and developing diets and strategies for promoting growth.
