Fish Disease Diagnostics

Salmon listed under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) can be held in captivity to manage broodstock genetics and to provide offspring for return to natal streams and lakes. However, fish held in captivity can develop diseases, and rapid detection of infections is important for treatment.

Diagnostic protocols were developed with guidance from the American Fisheries Society Fish Health Section's Blue Book and the World Organization for Animal Health's Manual of Diagnostic Tests for Aquatic Animals.
