Download the Harmful Algal Bloom Hunter’s Handbook Classroom Curriculum. This series of eight lessons is designed to teach middle and high school students about phytoplankton, physical oceanography, and the impacts of harmful algal blooms along the West Coast. These lessons were developed to meet the Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements.

NOAA Microworlds

This is a set of three short videos and supplementary materials designed to teach 5th grade students about microscopes. Each video highlights a NOAA scientist interacting with students and explaining how microscopes are used in his or her work. The videos provide a real-world link between classroom studies using microscopes, and scientists using microscopes. The NOAA Microworlds videos are available for general distribution from the AFSC (afsc.outreach@noaa.gov), and the videos can be viewed at vimeo.com/noaaomc/videos. NOAA microworlds was produced by NOAA’s Ocean Media Center and the Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC) in Seattle, WA.
