Carla Stehr, at NOAA’s Northwest Fisheries Science Center in Seattle, WA is not only an electron microscopist, but an artist. In April of 2009, an exhibit of her photographs taken with a scanning electron microscope opened at the Seattle Aquarium, and the “Sea Unseen” video was shown at the premier event.

A companion video to “Sea Unseen,” also screened at the exhibit’s premier, shows how Carla is inspired by her work to go beyond photography and make contemporary quilt art.

These videos were produced by NOAA’s Ocean Media Center and the Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC) in Seattle, WA.
